Saint Mary’s is a diverse parish serving an urban, primarily immigrant community. We celebrate masses in English and Spanish every Sunday, and celebrate a myriad of cultural events year round: our Italian dinner in October, Sim Bang Gabi and Our Lady of Guadalupe in December, Mardi Gras and Irish Breakfast in the spring, and our International Festival in June. We have a strong tradition of lay leadership and a commitment to social justice. Our food bank, The Food Bank @ St. Mary’s, serves the hungry of Central Seattle and was the recipient of the Mayor’s 2016 End Hunger Award. Our active St. Vincent de Paul society serves the needy with support for housing, utilities, and other items necessary to maintain dignity and gainful employment. As a parish, we believe that it isn’t enough to just show up on Sunday, that a community of believers should continue in the formation of their faith, and connect with one another outside the mass. Santa María es una parroquia diversa que sirve a una comunidad urbana, primordialmente inmigrante. Celebramos cada domingo Misas en inglés y en español y tenemos una gran cantidad de celebraciones culturales durante todo el año: nuestra Cena Italiana en octubre, Sim Bang Gabi y Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe en diciembre, Mardi Gras y el Desayuno Irlandés en la primavera y nuestro Festival Internacional en junio. Tenemos una tradición muy fuerte de liderazgo laico y de compromiso a la justicia social. Nuestro banco de comida, El Banco de Comida en Santa María sirve a los que tienen hambre en el área central de Seattle y recibió el “Mayor’s 2016 End Hunger Award”. Nuestra conferencia de San Vicente de Paul es muy activa y ayuda a los necesitados con fondos para vivienda, luz, agua, y otros artículos necesarios para mantener la dignidad y un empleo remunerado. Como parroquia nosotros creemos que no es suficiente aparecerse el domingo, que una comunidad de creyentes debe continuar formándose en la fe y conectándose entre ellos fuera de la Misa.
