| Dear Brothers and Sisters of St Mary’s This week we received the answers to the questions sent to St Teresa and St Edward churches. The responses from both parishes, as well as Archbishop Etienne’s last letter dated 09/23/2021 are attached for your reference. This is an important step in our process of connecting with San Eduardo and Santa Teresa to learn more about these parishes. After working with St. Mary’s parishioners to generate questions, we sent both St. Teresa and St. Edward the same consolidated questions based on the comments and questions we received from parishioners. As indicated by your response to our next survey, we will continue with this process. Additional questions, including any detailed questions previously received from parishioners, will be discussed when we begin meeting with the two parishes. We are committed to keeping you informed and will communicate additional responses as we have them. Our group of Stakeholders will continue to collaborate with Saint Teresa and Saint Edward. As we move forward, we will have subcommittees representing our various ministries that will work directly with the other parish representatives. We will hope that our lay leaders and all parishioners will help us participate in the vision of our future with the other parish. If you are interested in participating in a subcommittee in the future, please let us know by contacting a stakeholder member or Olaf Valderrábano. We will have more information soon. This process is not easy for any of us and, as members of the stakeholder group, we remain deeply saddened by the decision to close our parish. We also know that our parish community of Santa Maria is much more than our buildings – it is all of us and our spirit of a multicultural community full of faith, welcoming, and dedication to justice and service. We are committed to working together with all of you to determine which of these parishes best fits our diverse community and the mission and values of Santa Maria. |
